Unwound Sound is proud to present the highly anticipated Austin debut of master fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church (4700 Grover Avenue, Austin, TX 78756).
Tsukamoto’s performances are a mesmerizing fusion of intricate fingerstyle guitar and evocative storytelling, weaving lyrical narratives with breathtaking melodies. Hailed for his ability to create an "orchestra at his fingertips," Tsukamoto’s music transcends cultural boundaries, offering audiences a deeply immersive experience filled with emotion and artistry.
The concert will feature a special opening performance by award-winning Austin composer and guitarist Brent Baldwin.
Admission is by freewill offering (suggested donation), with all proceeds benefiting the Austin Sanctuary Network, an organization that supports immigrants fleeing violence and those at risk of deportation.
“We’re beyond excited to bring Hiroya Tsukamoto to Austin,” said Unwound Sound Artistic Director and event co-performer Brent Baldwin. “His music is spellbinding—both intricate and deeply moving. This will be an unforgettable afternoon of world-class guitar and storytelling.”
Praise for Hiroya Tsukamoto:
"Hiroya Tsukamoto may play the guitar with the skill of a virtuoso, and he may write compelling music that draws from many different cultures and genres, but if I had to choose one word to describe him, it would be orchestrator." — Acoustic Guitar Magazine
"Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us on an impressionistic journey." — Boston Herald
"… chops, passion, and warmth. Zealously recommended!" — JazzReview.com
