A Feather on the Breath: orchestral and choral works by Walker, Xiao, Pärt, & Fauré

Brent conducts the orchestra and chorus of Panoramic Voices in George Walker’s Lyric for Strings, Arvo Pärt’s enigmatic Berliner Messe, the world-premiere performance of Brought into Morning by Australian composer Kitty Xiao, and Gabriel Fauré’s timeless Requiem.

Featured soloists include Natalie Joy (soprano) and multi Grammy Award-winners Cameron Beauchamp (bass) and Robert Harlan (bass).

The concert also features a student performance by Kids in a New Groove, to which a portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated.

This concert is made possible with generous support by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Mozart Requiem Undead & Roomful of Teeth

Brent conducts an encore performance of 2014’s award-winning Mozart Requiem Undead. Featuring more than 200 musicians, MRU features commissioned reworked movements of Mozart’s masterpiece by Glenn Kotche, Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, Graham Reynolds, Peter Stopschinski, Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma), DJ Spooky, Petra Haden, Justin Sherburn and Kate Moore.

Brent also conducts Roomful of Teeth and Panoramic Voices in the world premiere of Tired Tropes for Battered Souls by Caleb Burhans. Concert includes an opening full set by the critically acclaimed and Grammy Award-winning Roomful of Teeth.

Presented in partnership with Texas Performing Arts, Convergence, Golden Hornet, and Panoramic Voices.
